Some biochemical differences between two species of freshwater crayfish, Astacus astacus L. and Astacus leptodactylus Esch., in Lithuania.

Abstract
The crayfish females with eggs were kept in water with temperature of 2-3°C for 15 days in December and then transferred to flowing water with temperature of 19-20°C and kept there not less than for 45 days. On account of that the juveniles hatch in February - March, not in June - July, that is 3-4 months earlier than under natural conditions. Thanks to that fact the body length and weight of the juveniles reach the same size which is common to yearlings reared under natural conditions only in October-November. The juveniles will be sufficiently large to be released in lakes, water temperature of which usually also reaches 19-20°C at that time.
