Abstract

Calcium ion concentration in the tissues of the crayfish is a major factor which influences the length, body weight as well as the physiological robustness of the crayfish. Since the state of health of the crayfish is an important criterion in crayfish research and industry, the results are discussed in relation to the possible methods of improving crayfish yields through calcium ion supplementation. It has been estimated that a 3 mg % increase in calcium concentration in each of the tissues would result in about 20 percent increase in crayfish biomass.
