Abstract

Orconectes limosus a North American crayfish species was found to harbour the crayfish parasitic fungus, Aphanomyces astaci (Schikora), as a resting (chronic) infection in the cuticle. Th1s crayfish could also function as a vector for the disease under laboratory conditions and could also under certain conditions die from A. astaci infection.
