Abstract

The upsurge in interest in parastacology in Australia, New Guinea and New Zealand over the past decade or so is documented for kindred astacologists. The species receiving most attention are the eastern Australian yabbie, Cherax destructor, and the south-western Australian marron, C. tenuimanus, because of their aquaculture potential.
