Crayfish mortalities in the UK rivers
Published Online: 1/21/2020
Abstract
Since 1981 there have been major mortalities in several rivers in southern England. In several of these crayfish plague has been confirmed. Stocks of Austropotamobius pallipes are widespread and abundant and mortalities of this severity appear to be a new phenomenon. The extent and implications of these mortalities are discussed.
