Mark and recapture of the red swamp crayfish Procambarus clarkii
Published Online: 1/21/2020
Abstract
A crayfish, Procambarus clarkii, study was conducted to determine the effects of stocking marked crayfish at 40 or 60 pairs/pond (800 or 1200 pairs(ha). In the field, marked and unmarked crayfish were caught with passive traps (November to late April) and hand capture at pond draining. Stocked, marked crayfish survival was 0-9% for males and 0-24% for females. About 38% of recaptured females had migrated. No males had migrated.
