Abstract

Experiments performed on Astacus leptodactylus Esch. juveniles revealed that exploratory-searching behavior was characteristic of 10-90-day-old juveniles. A maze complicated juvenile behavior: motion rate in it decreased three times in comparison with 'an open field'. Because of thigmotaxis, juveniles moved along the walls. When they approached a food irritant, the share of investigatory elements of behavior decreased, while that of searching elements increased. Crayfish observed (visually perceived) the food at a distance of about 40 cm.
