Socioethological Aspects of Sexual Behavior of the Signal Crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus Dana Introduced in the Lithuanian SSR
Published Online: 6/1/2020
Abstract
Variations of sociodemographic reproductive cells made it possible to determine that promiscuity and polygyny are the basic types of sexual interrelations in Pacifastacus leniusculus Dana. This gives evidence for a wide spectrum of behavioral potentiality of the species under the conditions of changing sociodemographic structure of the population. Pairing has a strict determinative character. Motor structures of the phases of this process are performed in a strict succession. This peculiarity of sexual behavior in P.l. forms the basis of reproductive isolation from other species of freshwater crayfish.
