Research on the Incubation Period of Astacus astacus (L.) Under Natural Conditions
Published Online: 6/1/2020
Abstract
The world-wide mentality of preservation of native animals provides increased motivation to rear Astacus astacus (L.) for restocking purposes. One of the basic parameters for crayfish rearing is knowledge of the incubation period. But great discrepancies concerning incubation time appear in the specialized literature, which leads us to the conclusion that the published results were not elaborated under natural outdoor conditions, those relevant to the problems of stocking. Our experiment resulted in an everage incubation time of 1537 day-degrees for Astacus astacus (L.).
