Abstract

Research on Pacifastacus leniusculus is being conducted at the University of California, Davis. The research has two main objectives. The first is an investigation of the ecological role of P. leniusculus in its natural habitat such as Lake Tahoe, the Sacramento River, and the coast range streams and lakes. The second objective involves cooperative research around the world as regards intensive crayfish culture. This paper reviews previous work and present outlook for the two objectives.
