A selected bibliography of the red swamp crayfish, Procambarus clarkii (Girard) and the white river crayfish, Procambarus acutus acutus (Girard)

Abstract
We made an attempt to include in this bibliography all relevant references on these two species of crayfish, from life history to economic importance. Some articles which only mentioned the species and contained little pertinent information were excluded. We may have over looked some references in our search, particularly those in Japanese publications. Additions or comments by the reader will be appreciated for future revisions. Whenever the species of crayfish was given in an article, we noted the scientific name or names that were used and have placed them immediately after the cited article. The sources for the references include the following: Aquatic sciences and Fisheries Abstracts and its predecessors -- Aquatic Biology Abstracts and Current Bibliography for Aquatic Sciences -- the Bibliography of Agriculture, Biological Abstracts, and the literature cited in some of the more important journal articles. In addition, theses were discovered by contacting those universities and colleges in the United States which were thought to be conducting crayfish research on the two species. The bibliography is divided into seven major subject categories: a) GENERAL; b) TAXONOMY AND DISTRIBUTION; c) BIOLOGY AND PHYSIOLOGY; d) TOXICOLOGY; e) PARASITES AND DISEASES; f ) CULTURE; and g) PROCESSING AND MARKETING.
